Letter from the GSL
As the summer term draws to an end I would like to thank all our Leaders and Committee for their support and achievements in the running of our successful Group.
Also I must add a big thanks to all you parent helpers and in some cases non-parent, for all your efforts in support of our leaders and Committee. We all play a vital part however big or small in the running of our successful Group. I say successful, because we are being constantly approached by parents for their child to join at all levels – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, which is an indication of our success in providing exciting and challenging programmes for all three sections.
During the last term however we have lost 3 Committee members, Chair Person, Vice Chair and Newsletter Editor. As you will appreciate all three posts are particularly important and unfortunately I cannot fill these from within, as the remaining members all have a role. There is a desperate need to fill these posts and therefore I would ask you to consider whether you can help out or not or to ask someone else that you might know.
The function of the Executive Committee is to run the Scout Group leaving the Leaders free to run the Beaver, Cub and Scout programmes. The Exec Committee meet once a month and apart from the smooth running of the Group the other main function is fundraising such as at the Yateley May Fayre.
It is not ‘rocket science’ to realize that without an effective committee the whole Group starts to fall apart and therefore I urge you to consider how you can help out. If you would like to put yourself forward or nominate someone else or just want more information please contact me or any other member of our Group. If you would like to help but not in the roles above we would still be pleased to hear from you.
