Family Fun Day – Canoeing & Kayaking on the Tidal Water at Stoke Lake, Gosport
On Sunday 31st July, 40 of our Cubs & Scouts and their parents enjoyed a splendid day on the tidal waters of Stoke Lake, Gosport.
In the morning, our flotilla of canoes and kayaks paddled the 3 km to Gosport submarine museum. The return journey at high tide, with water flowing over the dam wall, gave the opportunity to shoot down the weir… and then the challenge to paddle back up, and over the wall against the torrent of the incoming tide. We were very gratefully to the "Gosport Scout Kayak Club" for the loan of their boats to supplement our own fleet.
