Scouts Calshot Cycling Trip

Dear Parents

Please note that in this Olympic year I have booked the activity of Cycling on Calshot velodrome.

The date is Saturday 31st March 2012 and we will leave Yateley at around 9am

I would be grateful if you could note the detail and confirm they can attend. I will then issue you with a Calshot Medical declaration to complete.

You should note that the smallest cycles they have require an inside leg of 60cms.

Calshot is in the New Forest and we will therefore make a daytrip of it. Transport will be provided in our Group minibus and the subsidized cost of the trip to you will be £10.

Calshot has the only indoor banked velodrome in the South of England. This national standard track was built in 1997 and can be used by a wide range of cyclists from novices to international standard. As long as you can ride a bike you can have a go under the watchful eye of a coach.

Track cycling is the fastest growing branch of the sport, due in major part to the successes which the Great Britain squad has enjoyed at World Championship and Olympic levels over the last few years. If you need further convincing, just think... "lightweight bikes, no wind, no rain and no cars!"

Cycling on Calshot velodrome couldn’t be easier. They offer five levels of progression, from the ‘have a go’ first timer, through to race ready track rider. We will obviously be ‘first timers’.

Please confirm your sons place by emailing me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks
